The People Concern
Here are just a few ways The People Concern makes a difference.
Flyaway Homes. The People Concern is thrilled to announce the impending grand opening of our 82nd St. permanent supportive housing community! Our strategic partnership with FlyawayHomes helps us to permanently house and support more individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness. FlyawayHomes’ development model scales innovative, fully integrated, sustainable solutions to end homelessness. Using modular techniques, they are able to build permanent supportive housing faster and cheaper than traditional development models.Together with FlyawayHomes we successfully opened the Steaven K. Jones Supportive Community, a permanent supportive housing facility located in South L.A. in November of 2019. This summer, we’ll celebrate the grand opening of 82nd St. and begin welcoming our neighbors to their new home! 82nd St. will create 16, 2-bedroom family-units. In addition to housing, every family will receive on-site supportive services including linkage to benefits, employment services, life-skills and wellness programming, medical and mental health care and our full gamut of comprehensive services. 82nd St. is our second FlyawayHomes location, with more projects to come!
Vaccination Events. The People Concern is dedicated to providing low-barrier access to the COVID-19 vaccine to our most vulnerable neighbors. In partnership with the Department of Health Services, our teams organize vaccination events for people experiencing homelessness across L.A. County in areas where there is a high concentration of unsheltered people.
Hygiene Kit Assembly on Zoom. An opportunity to compile hygiene kits (virtually) with a representative from The People Concern present to educate, demonstrate and explain where the kits will go and the impact they will make in the lives of our unsheltered neighbors.
Snack Bag Assembly on Zoom. An opportunity to compile snack kits (virtually) with a representative from The People Concern present to educate, demonstrate and explain where the kits will go and the impact they will make in the lives of our neighbors who frequent our Drop-In Access Center.
