Emergency Planning and Preparedness

Building owners take their responsibility for the safety of all building inhabitants extremely seriously. Beyond basic evacuation regulations, owners seek to prepare staff and tenants for any eventuality, whether a bomb threat, active shooter, or earthquake. To mitigate this wide array of potential hazards, managers must plan, train, exercise the plan, and evaluate the results to maintain readiness.

BOMA/GLA has consistently brought forward new operating standards and training for staff and tenants, which raises the bar for the industry as a whole. The Association has also built lasting relationships with public agencies that share trends in emergency planning and preparedness. This includes the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles Office of Emergency Services, the Southern California Earthquake Center, and the Department of Homeland Security.
